Military Support
HELPING FAMILIES
  • Looking for Information about Injured Soldiers? Call the Army's Hot Line
If the family of an Army soldier is concerned that their loved one may be injured or hospitalized, they can call the Army's Public Information "Hot Line" at 1-800-833-6622.

If a family member just wants to confirm whether a member has been injured or hospitalized for any reason, they can call this number and receive confirmation. They can also call this number to receive updated information about their injured loved ones.

The Army's Public Information Hot Line is also the central point of contact for all government or public general information inquiries. This means that if families have members serving in other branches, the Army's hot line number can provide the referral numbers for all the branches of service.

      MOBILIZATION AND DEPLOYMENT

      • Good News for Military Students
New legislation, known as the "HEROES" or Higher Education Relief Opportunities for Students Act is now in place, which will provide student-loan relief to U.S. troops on active duty. This new measure will excuse military personnel from their student loan obligations while on active duty. It will also force colleges and universities to refund tuition and fees paid for courses gone uncompleted due to military call-ups, and will make it easier for students returning from military service to re-enroll for classes. • Transitional Assistance for Reservists
National Guard and Reserve members that have been ordered to active duty for more than 30 days in support of a contingency operation may be eligible for medical benefits under the Transitional Assistance Management Program (TAMP). TAMP provides health care coverage for Reserve Component and eligible family members as they transition back to civilian life. Active duty service members who are separating from service are also eligible for TAMP if they belong to an applicable category group such as Stop-Loss, voluntary retention, or involuntary separation.
