School’s in session and this means new challenges for children. This time of year, parents are also feeling the squeeze: They just don’t know where they’ll find the extra time to help with homework and extracurricular events. They may be feeling that work responsibilities, personal demands, and child care responsibilities requires more hours than there are in the day!

FOH’s WorkLife4You Program helps ease the squeeze! WorkLife4You provides the right answers to questions as well as access to resources, referrals, and information when employees need it; freeing hours of time so employees can do other important tasks.

WorkLife4You provides tips to help parents deal with a variety of issues including homework, childcare, aftercare, and help for college-bound teens. Employees can also access WorkLife4You anytime and get answers on specific areas or make targeted inquires about specific situations.

Below are some tips for parents who want to help their children establish effective study habits in the new school year:

  • Provide a reward for good grades and use incentives to keep him or her motivated.
  • Develop a routine by designating certain times each day for homework and study.
  • Discuss homework assignments and be sure they understand important goals and deadlines.
  • Develop organizational skills by having children write down goals and assignments and check them off as they are reached.
  • Monitor and limit television viewing, recreational computer use, and other activities which can distract from schoolwork.
  • Review all homework and ask to see any feedback from teachers.
  • Stay in touch with your child’s teacher to evaluate progress.
WorkLife4You is available to help employees deal with the challenges of life when they need it most – as they happen. The Program offers counseling, education, and referrals to assist with other issues such as adult care, health and wellness, financial and legal concerns, pet care, and more. Contact FOH’s Work/Life Program today to learn more about how it can help your agency’s employees reduce stress and be more productive.
