Overview:
This course is designed for individuals who will oversee asbestos abatement projects. The training offers practical instruction on all facets of asbestos removal to include project planning, work practices, protection of workers, and project close-out procedures. Topics also include protective clothing, respirator inspection and fit testing, containment practices, construction of decontamination facilities, and glove-bag procedures.
This course meets both the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Competent Person requirements and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Asbestos School Hazard Abatement Reauthorization Act (ASHARA) requirements for an asbestos abatement supervisor.

Overview:
This course, designed for individuals who will work on asbestos abatement projects, provides a general overview of asbestos abatement project procedures and worker protection. The course reviews information on the various health effects associated with asbestos exposure to include work practices, personal hygiene practices, respiratory protection, medical monitoring and surveillance, and air monitoring. There also will be a review of all applicable regulations.
This course meets both the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Class I work and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Asbestos School Hazard Abatement Reauthorization Act (ASHARA) training requirements for an asbestos worker.

| Asbestos Building Inspector (DC/MD Accreditation)

Overview:
This course is designed for individuals who will engage in investigations for asbestos-containing materials (ACM). Course topics include legal considerations associated with environmental investigations, health effects associated with asbestos exposure, applicable asbestos regulations, understanding building systems, inspecting for the presence of ACM, asbestos bulk sampling, assessing the condition of ACM, and writing the asbestos inspection report.
This course meets the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Asbestos School Hazard Abatement Reauthorization Act (ASHARA) training requirements for an asbestos building inspector.

The student must already be trained as an Asbestos Inspector.
Overview:
This course is designed for individuals who will write building control plans, as per the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA). Course topics include hazard assessment of asbestos in buildings, understanding asbestos survey results, evaluation and selection of asbestos control options, writing asbestos operations and maintenance plans, and asbestos response action cost estimations.
This course meets the EPA Asbestos School Hazard Abatement Reauthorization Act (ASHARA) training requirements for an asbestos management planner.
Duration:
2 Days
NOTE: A half-day Asbestos Management Planner Refresher (DC/MD Accreditation) course is also offered, and is typically run concurrent with the Asbestos Building Inspector refresher (FOH-EH-ASB-004A).

This course is designed for individuals who are responsible for developing written project designs specifications (“specs”) for asbestos abatement projects. Course topics include applicable asbestos regulations, health effects associated with asbestos exposure, personal protective equipment, work practices associated with asbestos disturbance, respiratory protection program, medical surveillance, and supervisor/contractor case studies.
This course meets the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Asbestos School Hazard Abatement Reauthorization Act (ASHARA) requirements for an Asbestos Project Designer.

This course is designed for individuals who may disturb small amounts of asbestos-containing materials during the course of a maintenance or repair activity. Course topics include recognition of asbestos, the health effects associated with inhaling asbestos fibers, state-of-the-art work practices for handling asbestos materials, and complying with Federal, state, and local asbestos regulations.
This course meets both the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Class III Worker and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) operations and maintenance worker training requirements.
Duration:
2 Days

Note on state-specific accreditation and certification:
The lead abatement and inspection courses listed have above are based on Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Training Requirement Standards (40 CFR 745) and are accredited through the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia, as certifying agents for the EPA.
While states and local jurisdictions outside Maryland and the District of Columbia may grant reciprocity for this training, they may also have additional requirements (a third party examination, licensures, verified work experience, etc.). Interested parties should check with each jurisdiction to determine any specific state and local requirements.

Course topics include locations and types of ACM that may exist in their facilities, the health effects associated with inhaling asbestos fibers, recognition of damage and delamination of ACM, asbestos control procedures, and floor maintenance guidelines.
This course meets both the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Class IV Worker and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) awareness training
